This show will feature many stunning drinking vessels and also Naru’s signature KAGUYA series tea bowls and sake cups that are cast in cured bamboo molds. KAGUYA series is named after the bamboo princess Kaguya, who came from the moon and was born from a segment of bamboo in the old Japanese folklore, “The Tale of The Bamboo Cutter (竹取物語).”
During the pop-up on Sunday, July 7th from 2 pm – 4 pm, there will be a sake tasting fundraiser hosted by Raechel Kadoya of Kibou Events. Raechel is co-owner of Soichi Sushi, one of San Diego’s best omakase dining restaurants that has been recognized with a Michelin star.
Raechel is raising money to help Matsunami Shuzo, a sake brewery with more than 150 years of history that was founded in 1868 in Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. The old building that houses the brewery suffered extensive damage from the recent earthquake that struck Noto on New Year’s Day 2024.
Naru and Entoten will donate all of the proceeds from selling the Kaguya clear sake cups ($40 each) to Raechel, who will hand deliver the money to Matsunami Shuzo in July. We hope to raise over $1000 for Matsunami Shuzo, so please join us! No purchase necessary to taste the sake.
