POP UP Blue and White Sometsuke Ceramics by Iwanaga Hiroshi December 7th & 8th

Entoten will host a pop-up ceramics show featuring sometsuke porcelain work by Iwanaga Hiroshi in Arita, Japan.

Sometsuke refers to painted porcelain work with cobalt-blue underglaze decorations. Much of their allure is the result of skillful use of the brush in applying the pigment in various hues of blues. Arita potter, Iwanaga Hiroshi, carries out all the steps of creating his sometsuke by hand, from throwing and molding the porcelain, to drawing and painting the designs with cobalt, and finally mixing and applying the natural pine ash glaze.

The result is a truly stunning work of sometsuke porcelain that is reminiscent of old Imari ware.

There will be a guest pop-up by PARU La Jolla for both days of the pop-up.
