Muranaka Yasuhiko
Hiroshima, Japan
Japanese metalworker Muranaka Yasuhiko creates light-hearted mini metal animal sculptures from dogs to squirrels for use as functional hooks for the home. These animal hooks are made of stainless steel and are created using the lost-wax casting method, in which a metal form duplicate is produced by casting the original sculpture. Muranaka-san carefully balances detail with form, while skillfully capturing the essence of the animals portrayed.
