I have new ceramics by Samuel Johnson in my shop this morning ->
It is hard to believe that almost a year has passed since I visited Sam in St. John’s, Minnesota, but I’m very excited to introduce more work by him in my shop.
You can read about my 2023 visit to his studio and St. John’s pottery here->
Sam’s work is such a joy to use on the dining table and I wanted to show how a dark background makes the colors of food pop. So I made chopped salad with a few peas -sprouted from store bought peas that were a little too mature- and some colorful vegetables like radishes and carrots.
I used the following ingredients:
Sliced Radishes
Sliced Carrots
Toasted Walnuts
Chopped Greens
Fresh English Peas
Rice Vinaigrette, Salt and White Pepper to taste
By the way, the salad is also delicious in a sandwich.
These altered flat bowls are one of my favorites from this batch of work by Sam and I bought a few for myself to use at home. I hope you enjoy your summer fruits and vegetables nestled in the beautiful ceramics made by Sam.
